Well I've done it!! I've been assisting by mate at weddings for the last 2yrs and this year have a few bookings for me to be the prime photographer so.. After using a Nikon D300 with 17-55mm and 80-200mm all this time I have decided to sell my entire kit and switch to Canon! I have ordered a Canon 5d mkII with the 85mm f1.2, 70-200mm f2.8 and 24-70mm f2.8. The main reasons for the switch was the ability to scroll through the images on the screen so fast, the Brokeh on the 85mm 1.2 and the general results seem to be better when I have assisted and borrowed his canon equipment!

I know it's a big jump but I hope this equipment will help me become a better photographer and one day perhaps a full time photographer.

Good luck, hope it works out for you :)

For real??
I have a 5d2 so know it's a great camera, but thats one of the strangest reasons for switching i've ever heard!

You can set the rear wheel on the D300 to scroll through images. It's much quicker than using the control pad.

I nearly jumped ship from a D300 to the 5dmkii, but ended up staying with Nikon. I'd be interested to hear how you find handling and AF performance as those were the 2 main things that stopped me changing over.

Really nice set of lenses you've chosen for the camera. Just hope the 24-70 proves wide enough for you. If you are in a very tight room, the 17-40L might be a better choice.
