Sadly, for the first time in 8 years my faithful Canon 5dii has let me down with error 20 and 30 messages. Quick Google seems to point to new shutter required.

I have no idea of cost for repairs and not sure if it's even worth repairing, maybe repair money would be better spent towards a new camera.

I do have a Sony a6000 so can wait until after Christmas before making a decision.

My options are....

1) Repair 5dii

2) Buy a new Canon body.

3) Move to Sony

Your help and opinions are very much appreciated.

Give Elstree a call and get a quote for a new shutter then decide.

Quote from Canon Elstree is just shy of £900.
Work required, new sensor and shutter.

Now, what do I do? Pay the money and get the 5dii repaired which would come back as a new camera.

Or, use the money towards buying a new camera like a 7dii.

HELP!

Buying a second hand one with a warranty sounds like a plan if you have a Canon lens investment, but do make sure the shutter is covered, it might be excluded as these are items that are known to have a life span, bit like a clutch/brake pads etc in a car, they are usually excluded.
