Yes
Has anyone use these 2 flashes together, i was thinking is it possible to have radio transmitter (ST-E3) on camera, the 600 set on radio and master, and 580 on slave.,
have ordered a 600 and just wundering.

Not actually done it, but I'm fairly sure that won't work.

ST-E3 is radio only, 600EX-RT is radio or light-code mastering, but you can't mix the two.

I was hoping the st- e3 would fire the 600 which would then fire by slave on the 580.
thats a bummer.

No, the 600 must be in slave mode to fire off the ST-E3.

Canon's RT system is very neat and effective, but is designed to work in an all-Canon RT set up.

The cheapest way to get full auto-TTL radio remote control is Yongnuo 622 triggers, and they're very good too.

I'm having the same sort of issues, I have the 600 and 430 as well as 2 Yongnuo 622 triggers and would like to use both flash guns off camera but I think I'm a trigger short ?

Yes.

What about the 90ex as an on camera trigger?

not sure if it will work but you can set both the 600 and ste3 to work in the IR mode so it will be like using a STE2. They then may all take to each other but the range will be very limited.

ST-E3 doesn't have a light-code IR mode, though the 600EX-RT does.
