Canon 580EX flash. Vs. Sigma 530DG Super

Hi

Does anyone own a Sigma 530 flash?

As i am considering purchasing a hotshoe flash for my 40D. The canon 580EX will most probably be the best performer between the 2, but at a price of 400 notes it should be.

You can pick up the sigma for about half the price. Yes it's not quite as powerful but is that a justifiable reason to spend an extra £200.

Also with the off camera hotshoe sync cables, are they compatible with the sigma flashes? Surely it's just like an extension cable but want to make sure.

you can pick the canon up for nearly half that price too, just see Kerso, he normally sells them for about £240ish

I use the Sigma 500 Super and on the whole I'm pleased with it - although I think the 580EX integrates better and given the choice I would spend the extra and get a Canon one from Kerso or HK.
