Yes
I currently have the IS II, which I can sell for around £90 and am looking at upgrading to the STM which will cost me around £30 more brand new.

Is it worth the upgrade? (I don't shoot video)

Thanks in advance.

Yes. IS II is a good lens, but the STM version is exceptionally good for the money. Completely different optical design

Forget the 55-250 and go for the Tamron 70-300 VC USD as it's much much sharper than the 55-250's

I have both versions of this lens.
The STM is fantastic for the money i cant fault it on my 7d2, its my go-to lens for closer to mid range wildlife shots.

I always said im not bothered about video, but tried doing some a couple of weeks ago, i was amazed how god it performed, and silent to zoom in and out as well.

Thanks, so is it worth the upgrade and extra £30? Thanks

In my opinion yes, well worth the bit more cash.
This is a jpeg shot taken with the STM version no editing, just cropped to fit file up-load size.
