Canon 50mm F1.8 A GOOD studio lens???

I am wondering wether the lens is a good one to use for studio shots?

the nifty would be a bit wide on a full frame body, but on a 400d it would be an 80mm lens, so ideal for portraits, for group shots employ a little sneaker zoom, and step back..

the prime lens will wipe the floor with the kit zoom for quality, try them both and compare for yourself
