Hi

My much beloved 'nifty fifty' seems to have come apart from the barrel housing.
It hasn't taken a hit and was working perfectly, AF made a slight grinding noise and upon examination the glass/mech no longer stay in the housing, there is about 2cm of play that allows the front to drop forward but never falls fully out. Nothing rattles and nothing 'appears' to be broken.

I know this is 'cheap' glass but if possible I would like to get it working again,so has anyone ever had this and fixed the above issue? Is it as simple as glue on the three plastic tabs ?

regards and all help appreciated

If it was me, I'd pull it apart and see what's what. You obviously need a bit of knowledge and, most of all, confidence!

The upside is that if you send it away for repair, with postage and all, it will cost more than a new lens.

:agree: I think Kerso is selling them on here for ~ £75 brand new, so I'd have a go and see if you can fix it, worse case is £75 for a new one and a bit of time spent trying to fix busted one

seems like the general consensus is, have a go and see what happens. worst case scenario was that is was knackered to begin with, I just didn't want to believe it!
Thanks for the replies and advice, will see how many pieces I can have left over:)
