Canon 500D (plus accessories) from ebay? or should I get a 450D?

Came across two decent looking deals:

I'm a novice at photography, this will be my first DSLR. Its also for my sister to use, who is also a novice.

Chosen a 500D as it provides some video recording features: something that I occasionally like to use at events etc (as long as its viewable/audible, I'm not too fussed).

What do people think? Do they ebay deals look good? or should I go for the 450D from Currys or somewhere?

Many differences between the 500D and 450D?

The 'Rebel' bodies are for the American market so you will not be covered by a UK warranty.
You can get a UK spec 500D and kit lens for more or less the same price.

Also have a look in the classified section for a user called 'kerso' or do a search for him.
Ian a trader and comes highly rated on this forum and ebay.
Chances are he will be able to you the best deal.

for what its worth, i am also a total newbie and i have spent the last 3 weeks reading these forums and ended up coming down to the 450d or the 500d i have plumped for the 450d with twin lenses, my decision was based on advice from here and a couple of mates, i am happy with the decision although i don,t get the camara until tomorrow,:clap: i don,t really think there is much in it except for the video on the 500

Once you have found the best deal, remember to see if you can use a cashback site.

I bought my 450D from Jacobs Digital last year through Quidco which gave me 5% cashback, from memory.
 
cool. I'm looking to use a friend's employee discount at Currys (10% off) and use the current cashback offer for either the 450D or 500D, still unsure which one.
