Canon 500D 2 element Close up lens.

Hi,

I need to take some macro shots for my wife, and was looking for a macro lens.

I was on the phone to Canon this afternoon, and they said that the best way forward was to buy a 500D 2 element macro lens/filter in 77mm for my 28-70 2.8L.

They said that at 70mm (or even 200mm with the 70-200 2.8L), that the results could be 1:1, (with 2X extender) without losing any advantage of the 'L' optics.

Cost is more than many second party 'macro' lenses, but I should end up with 'L' quality macro shots.

I found one at £99 new on Amazon, so I ordered it this afternoon.

Has anybody used one of these, and if so, any comments??

I'd never heard of it either, but there is plenty about it on't interweb

Cor! When's my next pay day...... I think I might get one of these.....not sure if Macro is going to be my thing or not, so this is a cheap (ish) way of finding out. Looking forward to your pics!
