hi all, have bought the canon 450 camera. it came with a 18-55 lens plus a ef50mm f/1.8 11 lens and a 430ex11 speedlite. it was second hand. i am a complete novice at photography. i have never used a d-slr camera before. so am looking for some advice. i have bought the 4gb extreme sdhc card. have charged the battery. so need to know, what is the best way to proceed. can you tell me the best settings to use. i know it will be best to use auto for now. but what settings am i best using ? a little help just to get me started, would be great. and any advice you can give me. kind regards. gboy.

I think the best advice anyone can give you at this stage is to order the following book as soon as possible....then read it.
Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson ...the best £10 you'll spend this year.

And in the mean time pop in the battery, pop in the card and have a play and get a feel for the camera.
