canon 450d actuation's lifetime

Hi all,

Iv had my 450d now for over a year now, and loved it, but was wondering if there is an estimate of how many actuations before it gives in..

I recently checked how many i have taken and it showed me 62,177

so should i be expecting it to go bust,

nice one thats grand, cause i was reading on a lot of forums that it was 50,000 thats good news so..

TBH it's a bit of a misnomer. Some will fail well under, and some well over. It is a bit like mileage on a car - a good indication of how much it has been used when buying but don't worry too much after

To elaborate slightly on one of the points made above, all figures like this are subject to - deep breath - statistical scatter. The vast majority of 450Ds will last for 100,000 shots. A tiny minority will last for significantly more than that and another tiny minority will go belly up before they reach 10,000.

Silly question, but how exactly do you go about checking the number of actuations?

Not at all Sarah. Lotso free programs you can use.

Opanda is a good one - Linky - I think thats the one I used for my 350d

What I want to know is, how on earth can someone acquire 62,000~ actuations in a year?!

That's.... a lot of shooting. A lot.

Easily when trying high speed stuff like drips etc!
