anyone know of one?

looking for the same sort of zoom functionality that you get when connected to a Laptop....
 
I'm pretty sure you're unlikely to find something like that. And if you do it wouldn't be cheap I should imagine. Since for zooming on a dSLR you need to physically twist or push/pull the lens barrel it would require all kinds of mechanical gizmo's like servo's, transmitters, receivers etc.

Presumably you mean such as when focusing via live view

I would say highly unlikely, perhaps use the smallest notebook you can buy?
 
as Taxi said, same as when using live view, (450 uses the -magnifier button to focus) essentially it would just be an extension of this button whilst looking at the LCD.

I like your idea of a small notebook though Taxi, wonder if an iphone ap is possible or maybe a PDA :thinking:
