Hi all, looking to buy my first flashgun to go with my canon 400d and am undecided whether to go for the canon or the sigma.
The sigma is cheaper and more powerful than the canon but the canon should talk to the camera with fewer faults.
Anyone have the sigma and could help me out with their views and likewise anyone with the canon want to share their thoughts.
Thanks.

I've got the Canon, and have owned the Sigma.

Both do the job. The Canon though is more robust.

Thanks for info,I bought the canon and have found the benifit of using this flash outdoors for macro insect work.
faster shutter speeds and greater depth of field before the bee ect flys off is resulting in sharper pics.
this flash has more power than i first thought it would.

There was a review of flashes in this months Photoplus mag. The 430EXII got a 95% score with best on test. On the back of that, I've just bought one - Just waiting for the batteries and charger from 7dayshop, then it should be all systems go.

Wish I could give you a review on using it but it looks nice in the box!!!!

Look forward to seeing your pics, your's is the same reason as mine for the purchase.

I have the sigma 530 DG super, got it for £80 off ebay, its a good flash and works fine, although ive heard its confusing to use compared to the Canon flashes. I believe its more powerful though and drops down to 1/128th power, but maybe the canon 430 does that too.
