Just bought a Canon 430EX (arrived this morning), I put the batterys in, fire it up, take my first shot and I hear a loud pop. Try to take a second shot and there is no flash (a whirring sound can be heard from the battery compartment...not sure if this is normal...), when I take the batterys out they're hot to touch.

Is this normal? I'm assuming the bulb has blown...but the whirring and the hot batterys?

Is it easy to fix or do I need to send it back?

Thanks

Mark

could be the zoom motor burnt out and shorting the batteries
whatever it is take/send it back

Something on the control circuit has obviously blown and is causing a short - hence why the batteries are hot.

Agreed, if it's new get a replacement.
