Hi
Recently bought a second hand Canon 40d. Well pleased with the camera. However when I removed and changed: the main battery I lost the date and time. I purchased a replacement date and time battery. Went to install this evening and found that the date and time battery was not there and neither was the holder.
Does anyone know if there could be a reason to remove this?
Can I buy a new holder?
Could I cause damage by replacing battery and holder?
If the last question is yes I will just run without and reset settings each time I change the battery.

Thanks
Mal

Can't think why the holder isn't there

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't replace the holder and battery - give Canon @ Elstree a call, I'm sure it can't be an expensive part to buy...

Enjoy the camera, the 40D is a belter...

Thanks Andyred I'll ring them tommorrow
Not sure but someone suggested it was previously used with a grip and taken out then and not replaced.
You're right its a cracking camera

Hi Mal

No the grip won't make any difference, if you're using a grip, all you need to do is remove the main battery drawer (and battery :D) and the grip slips in place...
