i have just purcheased a canon 400mm 5.6 and expect delivery on tuesday, is this a cracking lens for wildlife?? cant wait to have a go with it so excited

I bought one a few months ago but only started using it this week shooting stags rutting.

It's an absolute cracker and great value for money. I have to use mine on a tripod though as I think I wobble a bit!

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

really cant wait too have a go!!

Got new lens now!! So fast for focus and not bad weight!! Great lens and i shall have some fun with this

I have one that gets very little use, it's a fantastically sharp lens that focuses very quickly. I just don't seem to get into the situations where I use it to it's potential.

But as soon as I decide to sell it, sod will invoke his 2nd law and every thing I shoot will be miles away and I'll miss it then.

Enjoy it
:D

Well if u wanted to sell i might someone in place of buying it! I like wildlife just gives me a better excuse of having a day out an walking around

Sold mine last month, great image quality, but my hold is just not steady enough especially with an ever worsening shoulder problem.

As said above its tripod/beanbag time in anything other than good light or it was for me.

Sure you knew this already but its not weatherproofed which is inconvenient for a lens used primarily for birds and the like

yeh i knew about it not been weatherproof so im going to invest a small amount of some waterproofing for it, cant be having it wet

Good idea Dave and sure you will be most impressed with it, enjoy!!

Get a neoprene lens cover for it Dave, save it getting knocked about.

I no longer have any interest in the above firm, so hope i`m ok posting the link. His neoprene stuff is a lot better than more expensive suppliers.

ah cheers just have a look now and see what they have for it!! i realise now that its actually a bit heavier then first thought and its quite lump to be hand holding all day

Hi B.D. of Hull.
You will soon, next month actually, be able to test the lens on wildlife. Donna Nook seal pup season is upon us.
I will see you there---Test/competition NIKON V CANON

Im up for that challenge!!! Were is that place ive heard about it loads! Im gonna head to spurn this weekend for a wonder! Nice an early i think

Dave
You must be joking--never heard of it!!!! and you only live aprox 50mins of safe driving away.
Just go over the bridge--tern left and follow the signs to the east coast, travel up the coast road and eventually you see a sign saying Donna Nook---tern left.
