Hi everyone, this is my first post so it may be a little "iffy". At pres' I am using a canon 400d and to be honest I think I have been sold a refurbished model, although it stated NEW. I have bought numerous lenses and now as I am disappointed with the 400d I would like to know which other canon my lenses will be compatible with so I can upgrade.

Thanks in advance
Wayne

hi and welcome
new or refurb...what makes this canon not good for you??

Hi and thanks for your reply, the reason I dislike my 400d is that all my images come out quite dark, I have been told that it is something to do with the sensor (cmos) I have taken 3 photo's with the camera tripod mounted and each photo' is different.
It seems as if the shots get darker the more I take , plus the ISO seems to have little or no effect, although this is random, I also bought an external flash that wouldn't work on my camera yet worked on a friends 400d. As I explained on my welcome post I have little technical knowledge and rely on what I glean from forums such as this.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Welcome to TP, Wayne.

If your lenses are EF, they will work on any of the current Canon DSLR camera bodies. If any of your lenses are EF-S, they will only work on the cropped frame bodies: 1000D, XXXD, XXD and the 7D.

ISO will not effect the exposure in Auto (or even Av or Tv for that matter)

Have you checked to see if you have any exposure compensation in effect?

I recommend you get to know this camera and it's settings before even contemplating upgrading. 400D's are a great starter camera.

Thanks, I understand the ISO on a/m settings it's mainly on the "P" setting I have most trouble with, I shall do as you suggest and persevere, sometimes it takes a little help to push me in the right direction, it can be very frustrating
thinking you've taken the shot of a lifetime to find it's not what you've seen with the naked eye.
Ref; ex'comp' that seems to be working ok, thanks again I did say I'm a novice

Stick with it you'll get there!

edit: throw a few images in here and we can diagnose what went wrong.
