Canon 30D sensor cleaning problem

Hello, I attemted to do a sensor clean tonight. I have done this many times on my previous 30D but this is the first time with the newer body.
My problem is when I select the sensor cleaning option from the menu and press the center button to start the procedure I get a message come up " cannot clean sensor " Can anyone shed any light on this problem for me please ?

Had a (very) quick look around... is the battery fully charged? Is it a proper battery, or a grip with, say, AA's in it?

ETA: It does seem to look like if you're using a third party grip, it wont let you do it.

I am using a grip, its a Canon own brand.
The batteries are not Canons own though.
I will remove the winder tomorrow and replace the cover and see if it allows me to perform the function.
