I am after an entry level DSLR, i have been looking at the nikon D40 and sony alpha a200, and have just seen a 300D on ebay.

Does anyone use the 300D? Is it any good?

What are they asking for it (as you may be able to get a newer 350D or 400D for similar money)??
 
300D is a brillaint start camera even if it is outdated. But as 'candlestick' said, the 350D can be had for a good price and marked improvements over the 300D. How big is your budget?

I wont confuse you with Nikon vs Canon crap....
 
check london camera exchange. they have good deals on trade in cameras

They have a few 400,350 and 300's all in stock with lenses

Some with warrenty which is always a bonus

I had a 300D, it is a good place to start, but handle any of the newer Canon models ( I have no experience of other makes) and you'll soon feel like an upgrade. The 350D is smaller by quite a considerable amount and to me feels too small, but again I have no experience of the 400/450 models. Go to a shop and handle some, is my advice. Then make a choice considering your budget as suggested above.
 
I had a 300D and liked the size of it compared to the 400D I got after it. I ended up buying a grip for the 400D to give me a bit more to get hold of. Great starter camera and if the price is right I would advise someone to get one.

There are a few on ebay, they are going for between £100-150.
I will have a look at the 350D and 400D

No set budget really but i don't want to spend a fortune on the body.

Before you buy a camera make sure you have held them all to see which feel the most comfortable.
 
I still have my 300D, gets used occasionally, produces good pics, I installed the firmware crack a long time ago, so it's more like a 10D, also have 20D, had a 30D (sold on TP), have 40D, & 400D, only thing to disklike now is small screen, apart from that good camera, should be able to get one cheap, guessing about £150 (maybe inc kit lens?).

bah, get the A200, superb starter camera, I am biased though
