I'm looking to get an equivalent to a fast 50mm prime for my 1.6x crop body (Canon 40D) and so am looking at the Canon and Sigma alternatives.
Seems the choice is either the Canon 28mm f1.8 or the Sigma 30mm f1.4, but am finding totally contradictory reviews. Ken Rockwell says sigma is crap buy the canon, but the digital picture which I always thought was very pro-canon says avoid the Canon and buy the Sigma.
Does anyone have any experience of either of these? which would you suggest - am looking for something suitable for taking pics of horses in poor light, so fast lens essential as is quick and reliable focusing.
Any opinions welcome.
