I'd like to buy this lens as I find my 50 f1.8 too tight in most scenarios and I tend not to use my 17-85 as its too slow for what I've been doing recently not to mention under par in sharpness but whats with the mixed reviews?

For example here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/28mm-f18.htm its said to be a great lens

But on here: http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/155-canon-ef-28mm-f18-usm-test-report--review?start=2 they have given it a terrible review

although on amazon the majority of them are positive, I'm just a tad confused on how it can be interpreted as both and I'm wondering whether anyone here has this lens and if I could have there opinions on it that would be great

Its okay, i've searched flickr for photos with that lens... found stuff like this: http://SPAM/p9pxh3d My mind is now made up :')

I have one i like it! Feels really fast, especially compared to a 50mm1.8 I've found it to be plenary sharp enough for me .... Just I don't use it enough I guess :(

Once again, thanks for the advice, I purchased the lens at the weekend and the results so far are quite spectacular:
