canon 24-70mm f4 or 24-105mm f4

I can't decide on which one, have done bit of searching and it seems the 24-70 is a bit sharper round the the edges, has anyone owned both? and if so what is your opinion?

I own the 24-70 and faced the same choice at the time. I decided to go with the shorter option and then get the 135 f2 to compliment it. Yes I could have had almost the two in one with the longer but the 135 f2 is just awesome and the 24-70 aint bad either.

I've had both, and unless you really need the extra reach, I'd recommend the 24-70 over the 24-105. The 24-105 is a great lens, but the 24-70 is noticeably sharper even wide open and (to my eyes at least) has a certain quality that the 24-105 doesn't.
