Yes
I'm on the verge of buying this lens tomorrow, intact I have one put aside at my local shop.

I have a small worry though that it may be just a tad too long on my crop 550D. I am wanting to use it as a general walkabout lens.

I have the kit lens also, which I hope will be made redundant by this. I also have a 70-300mm zoom and a Sigma 10-20mm to cover the wide-angle range.

Is anyone else using the 24-70mm on their crop? And if so what are your thoughts?

I've had a play with the lens on a ff body and loved it, but never tried it on a crop.

I use it on a 50D, you may lose some of the wideness, but you still have a cracking lens on there. Works great as a walkabout, I haven't taken it off in 4 months!

I use it on a 7D and, whilst it's wide enough most of the time, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable if I didn't have my 10-22 to cover the wide end too.

A lot depends on what type of shots you take - for many things, 24mm on a crop would be wide enough but for other things it won't be.

Have you considered the Canon 17-55 f2.8IS? I don't have one but it seems to be the most recommended lens for a crop on here.

You already have 10-20 so you are all covered. 24-70 or indeed 24-105mm are the perfect lenses for you.

I've used one on a crop for a while and it was fine. I also had an UWA in the bag and obviously both got used

I think my minds been put at rest now, thanks.

Lets not get started on 24-70 v 24-105, that little decision has been playing on my mind for 2 weeks now but decided the wider aperture is more useful to me than the IS.

Didn't actually clock that you already have the Sigma 10-20. In that case I can heartily recommend the 24-70, go for it, you won't regret it :)

Can agree with what's already been said, I've got a 24-70 on my 7D & love it, it's a perfect focal length for my requirements & along with the Sigma 10-20 that I've got I think i've got all I need.

If it helps, I have the 24-70 and the 10-22 but it's the 17-55 that spends the most time on my 7D for walk-around.

I picked it up today, its fantastic.

So sharp, had a mess about in the carpark on the way home, loves the bokeh!

That always seemed to make the 24-70 a better option on a crop than the 24-105 to me. The latter just seems more like a general purpose FF lens that isnt on a crop where as I'd guess for many 24-70 is a more useful range to have a 2.8 appature than 17-55.
