Hi all,

My nephew bought himself a Canon 2000D from John Lewis which was delivered this morning but he's having issues charging the supplied battery.

The battery is showing as having 2 bars when inserted in the camera but upon using the supplied battery charger, he gets an orange flashing light, is this normal?

It says nothing in the manual about whether or not the light should stay constantly lit or whether or not it should flash.

He was hoping to take it out tomorrow but that doesn't seem likely, Canon also don't include a USB cable in the box to charge the camera or connect to a computer.

Cheers

Sounds like there is an issue with the charger. Is the figure of 8 cable fully connected?

In the trouble shooting guide at the back of the manual (page 286) it says that if the battery charger has a problem the protection circuit will stop the charging and the lamp will blink orange. Unplug the charger, remove the battery and try again. If the problem persists contact your dealer or canon.

Hopefully a loose connection somewhere but if not sounds like a call to John Lewis is needed.

It is the figure 8 cable, It's in as far as it'll go, tried numerous times, tried different plug sockets too.

Reading online, it seems a lot of people have this issue when charging a brand new Canon battery, the 2000D is 2/3 years old now i think so it has been sat unused since then i'd guess.
