Can anyone tell me the difference between the silver label and gold label on the canon lpe4 battery ... (not the 1dxii BATTERY) They are genuine canon before anyone asks :)

The gold labeled versions arose due to a change in Japanese li-on regulations....silver would therefore be older.

I believe that the "gold labelled" versions have a slightly higher mAH rating.

The battery for the 1Dx is the LP-E4n and has a "Gold" label, the battery for the 1D3 and 1D4 is the LP-E4 and has a "Silver" label - either will work fine in 1DX bodies.

I currently run one LP-E4n and two LP-E4 packs and, frankly, the older ones are working better in my 1DX!

I need a new battery and not paying 114 quid from hong king and deffo not getting a 3rd party... have found a silver label one on ebay for 35 quid.. used but still working ok...

I d=found somehting out... I ahve a battery that always needs calibrating even after calibrating.. but tis been like that for last couple of year.. anyways i discovered... if you do a burst of 4 or 5 pics and this battery is below 405 it locks up the camera.. need to turn off and back on..... i was worried something was wrong with camera.. switched batteries and it did same in another body so deffo the battery that seemed to eb workign ok but...

Bear in mind that it must be 6 years old at the very minimum and Li-on batteries do degrade as they age and not just as a factor of charge cycles.

IIRC to charge the LP-E4N fully you need the matching charger otherwise they charge to 80% on the original charger for LP-E4 batteries.

I have the two diffeernt chargers so wil be OK ta:)
