Canon 1ds Mkii or Canon 5d Mkii Advice Please

Hi, I currently have a 1ds mkii but wasn't sure if i should go for the 5d mkii so just wanted to get some advice to see if its worth getting or should I just keep my 1ds mkii?
 
I'd keep your 1Ds Mkii until you can afford a 5D Mk3. I had the same conundrum, wanted the better display and higher ISO of the 5D MK2 but didn't want to go backwards in AF ability from a 1 series, I got the 5D Mk3 and it is a superb piece of kit.

I think if you go to a 5D Mk2 you'll be frustrated by the AF coming from a 1 series where the AF is superb.
 
I had the same dilemma about 2 years ago. I picked the old brick for much better AF, and sealing. 5D only has a marginally better sensor (a few more pixels, same-ish noise up to 1600). Depending on circumstances the old brick wins for many applications. I consider my upgrade pathway to 1Ds III or 5D III (when the price is right of course), 5D II could be a very good landscape / portrait backup though.
 
I second the above.
Only issues I have with the 1Ds where i thought the 5D might be better are:

Screen & fiddly two-button menu's

Screen issue was resolved with an eye-fi & ipad and the menu's I just got used to!!

Well there is also a battery capacity issue, solved by carrying 3 heavy spares :lol:

Still the 7day shop ones are only about £13 each :D
 
I sold a 1Dsmk2 to get the 5d2 then sold that to keep a 1Dsmk3. The 5D2 handles much better than the 1Dsmk2 (better menus, less fiddly controls, faster/larger buffer) and the IQ was (to my eye) a bit better. The 1Dsmk3 tempted me back though because the 5D AF isn't perfect. (But now I am selling my 1Dsmk3 as I am tempted by a 5D3!).

Bottom line - I don't think there is too much between these bodies but each has advantages and drawbacks. Where do you feel the 1Ds2 limits you?
 
Well the only downside about the 1ds2 id that its abit heavy, no video and also that it dont have live view.
I think i'm going to stick to my 1ds2 untill i can afford the 1ds3 or 5d3.
