Well after just about a year of use, I can honestly say this is the most complete photographic tool I've ever used.. by a country mile. I'm struggling to think of any even minor gripes I have with this camera. With the Custom Functions and Personal Functions, the latter beng set with the camera connected to the PC, this must be the most customisable camera on the planet! One really nice touch is that you can choose to keep the selected AF rectangle illuminated all the time - really handy when you're focusing on a sparrow's eye with a long lens, but you can even choose how bright you want it... just superb!

The facility to back up shots from the CF card to the SD card alone is a huge safeguard against losing important shots. I jumped in and bought the camera as soon as it came on the market, so paid a high premium as an early purchaser. It wasn't an easy decision as the money would have gone a long way towards buying some very long glass, but I have no regrets with my choice whatsoever.

That's it really, this isn't meant to be any sort of in depth review, just a recommendation that if you're thinking about it - don't - just do it! :)

Joe, I think we can safely assume Rob would assure you that the D2X = the dog's dangly bits. :D

Don't have the N CT but the poor man's version is just as good :p . Tolerates a huge amount of abuse, autofocus is something else, not as heavy as people say, absolutely love mine :)

Although I don't think Rob would use such polite terms :D

CT, I like the idea of that customisation feature on the focus points.

That's one of my gripes with the 30D, I sometimes have to squint and keep hitting the focus button to make sure the right one is activated. Sometimes it's nice and bright, sometimes it isnt

Good to hear its lived upto and beyond expectations  - BTW I am truly envious :)

I can only agree, 'tis quite the best machine there is.

OMG!! I can't believe it's a year already.
