Please can someone tell me how to get the shutter count on a Canon 1D Mark 111? I've used camerashuttercount.com and I was wondering if this is accurate? Thanks very much in advance for any replies.

Only way to get the shutter count on the Mk3 is to send it into Canon as far as I'm aware.

I tried various programs and looked into it when I had one prior to selling but there was no way to get it.

Hmm, I'm not sure it is giving accurate results as it says my 1d3 has taken just 12 shots when I know it to be closer to 60k!

The camera vendor his since told me, that as martyp says, Canon are the only people who can give you the shutter count and it costs £200.

Checked my MKIIn on shutter count and it was spot on.

You can't check with the MKIII onwards, however, all the tech guys seem to think that if your Canon has done more than 200 shutter actuations then it's either broke, or soon will be.

I know a sports media photographer who is using 1D mk3's and they look well battered but they are just a tool-of-the-trade to him. One camera had shot over 700,000 images on one shutter!

You can check with the Mk IV

what do you mean 'Not officially'?

Canon say you cant get the actuations without sending it in to them and requesting the information, and even then theyve been known to refuse.

Of course we all know that there is software which reads the shutter count but not officially recognised by Canon as anywhere near accurate
