Is this worth a look at folks, and what sort of price would you pay for a second hand one... Questions questions questions:D

Due to the lack of response, I take it this is a none too popular a lens choice

It sounds an attractive lens although if i was you i'd look at the sigma 17-70 instead

I bought one as a kit lens with my first 40D - was "ok" to start with but suffered from pretty bad CA and some distortion as you moved either side of 50mm!

I think I sold mine for around £180 on ebay!

Have to say I experienced the same...

It's not bad for the money, but from what I hear and read, the Sigma 17-70mm is better, but not sure whether it has IS like the Canon 17-85

Aaaah thats more like it ,was beginning to think i ha BO :D .. yeh the more i look the less i like . 17-70siggy looks good ,and has good reports ,You's all confirmed what i read up about it ,just needed a wee bit of reassurance . Anyways i'm heading to Fforbes photography at Beauly tomorrow ,they've a couple of things i'd like to have a closer look at ,(ie.. sigma 10-20..Tamron 17-35 ,they also have a sigma 500mm prime ,so there's a few options there .Anyways thanks for the feedback folks
