Canon 17-85 IS lens creep

I've had the above lens for about 12 months now. I'm not a tog or an avid enthusiast although I'd like to be but never have the time with my job.
It's the mainstay lens on my 400d as I find it a good all rounder.

The lens creep seems to be getting worse, I only have to tilt the camera downwards and it will move straight out to its longest length
I can't recall it doing this to such a degree when it was new.

Is there anyway of tightening it or do I need it repaired?
