I bought a brand new Canon EF 135mm f2 USM from simply electronics in February.
The lens I got made a funny screechey sound while hunting for focus. Like the internal ring needed lubrication.
I sent it back and waited quite a while for a replacement to be sent out, which was eventually.
Anyway the one that was sent out was not quite USM but better than the last one. Ive never used this lens before now so don't really know what it should sound like. HoweverI suspect it should be as quiet as my other newer lenses. I know its quite a dated model.
Looking for feedback based on this video of lens 'hunting'

If its not 'normal' I intend to return it again as I intend to sell it on anyway but want it perfect before I do. This time unfortunately a replacement wouldnt be on the cards but they should repair it if there is indeed something wrong.

Please bear in mind Ive cranked up the volume on this, hence the noisey audio.

Thanks in advance,
Grif

Thats what I thought Chris.
Thanks for taking the time to look at the video.
Anybody else?
Just wondering if mine is the only one.

That sounds pretty ropey to me and certainly nothing like mine .

Just checked my copy and it's basically silent. Very small sound if you listen closely, but certainly nothing like that.

Thanks Draiman,
I now face the next to impossible and extremely drawn out task of getting Simply electronics to honour their warranty.

Send it to Canon at Elstree.

or at least contact them.

If it's less than a year old it will be under warranty anyway. As long as you have a reciept they should fix it for free.

I have a few Canon lenses and that sounds as ropey as hell.
