Canon 100-400mm L or Sigma 150-600mm?

I've been saving for some time and can't decide what to get.
I'm looking for a lens that I can use for wildlife and motor sport. I was thinking of the Canon 100-400mm mk1 used or a new Sigma 150-600mm. I know the Canon lens will be a used version but what are peoples thoughts?

It will be used with a Canon50D & 7D Mk1

I just can't afford the Mk2 version so looking at the Mk1

I got the sigma contemporary version a week ago, only had one day out with it so far but fairly impressed with it. I'm Nikon so no idea about the Canon.

Rent each for a couple of days? Eats into your budget, but it may save you money in the long run (or borrow, if you know anyone).

Depending on the kind of wildlife you photograph, 400mm might not be as far as you'd like (or hope).

I already have the Canon 300mm F4 L with a 1.4 convertor = 420mm and sometimes I don't get what I want. I'm thinking the Sigma will give me that bit more
