Just a quick note to see if any other togs out there have attached the Canon 100-400 is mk2 and a Canon tc x 2 ii and the canon tc x1.4 ii on the Canon eos r7 I was pleasantly surprised how good the quality was using a tripod with electronic shutter (good light is nice) nearly 1800mm equivalent focal length and still quite fast auto focus.

Yep I did that before with my previous 6Dii I got my R6ii & RF100-500. Just a bit harder to follow anything moving with focal length over 600mm though

I’ve used an EF1.4x III with my EF 100-400mm II on a 7DII and 80D and the combination works well. Not tried it with an R series body.

Works really well so long as you shoot on electronic shutter as the clunk of a mechanical shutter may cause judder and affect focusing

I have an R7 100-400EFmk2 and a 1.4xiii. I have struggled using all 3 with a bit of - atmospheric haze, subject movement, camera shake and the IS getting very confused if the camera/lens combination is anything other than being held quite still to start.

I tend to just use the 100-400 and R7 and crop, I find a big crop from a sharp frame is better than not needing to crop a fuzzy one, and the 32mp sensor in the R7 is very good at showing up poor technique.

Electronic shutter is the way to go if you can put up with the rather excessive rolling shutter

Hi Willid, the mk2 versions of canon TC are the ones I use I can mount them in series I will take some shots and put them on here only get atmospheric probs in hot weather
I always use tripod and electronic shutter the thing to watch is large temp changes ie when you leave a warm house and go out in the cold you will get misting.
