Yes
Does anyone know if these will work OK with my Sigma 70-300mm.

Reason being I want a bit more 'length' :nono: and thought of getting one of these, then hopefully before xmas I'm gonna go for the 100-400mm which will complement the said purchase of an extender.

Strange that, I just thought you'd stick the TC on the camera, then that would give you a 'Canon' fit ring for any Canon fit lens to go into?

Thanks Ian, might have to have a re-think

I'd hate to imagine the softness with the 2x TC on that tho :|

I'd pretty much say stick away from the 2x converters, period. It's not worth it for the loss in quality tbh, 1.4x's i hear nothing but people raving about.. But the 2x, apparantly its sad faces all around?

I believe the Tamron 1.4x will fir other lenses

I also wouldn't fancy the 2x on that lens. Softness and very slow!

Hijacking a bit - sorry - what do people think about the idea of a 2x converter with a 70-200 f2.8L then? Am I likely to be disappointed with it?

No they won't.

The 1.4 and 2 only work with the cream L Lenses.

I don't mind my 2x, it's taken some good shots, they are a bit soft but not to an extent that you'd hate it.

Carl.

So taken as a straight comparison between the 70-200 f2.8 with 2x & my current Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 on its own, I'm not likely to notice much differnce in quality you reckon? My hope is that most of the time I'll be using the new lens (If & when!) on its own anyway, but I know there will be occasions when I'll want the full reach.
