Hi

Im currently using a cannon 1100D with the standard 18-55mm lens and also a 50mm lens. Most of my photography is of Tropical fish in fish tanks. The lenses i have have done me so far but i find they are a bit restricting, 50mm lens small subjects are too small and the 18-55mm lens cannot zoom in enough if the subject is at the back of the tank and can be a bit dark as high shutter speed can some times be required.

Is there any suggestions to what other lens i should get or any other equipment?

Thanks in advance

Jonny

Tamron 90mm f/2.8 is very good and won't break the bank at ~£230 pre-owned.

Think you can pick up a Canon 60mm EF-S macro for similar money but you're obviously losing 30mm (48mm on a crop) of focal length.

Thank you, that's very help full hopefully I can persuade my boss a newer lens equals better picture which equal more sales.

Thanks

Jonny

I would recommend the EF 100 f/2.8 Macro over the EF-S 60 f/2.8. I have had both. A Longer focal length macro lens will give you more distance to subject working space. Live subjects find the EF-S 60mm 3.5" 1:1 magnification minimum working distance (MWD) a bit close. The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens allows about 6" MWD. You will also find that Macro photography usually requires using a tripod, unless using a lens with IS (Image Stabilization)
