Yes
I current have a Manfrotto 190X Pro but it is a little heavy for long trips. I am off to Tasmania in 4 weeks time so I am thinking about getting a lightweight option for when I don't need the telephoto lenses. Lots of walking is planned for Tasmania and lots of landscape stuff.

So here is my spec:

Ideally weight 1kg max (without a head).
Must be able to support 3kg. (Might be able to get away with 2kg at a push).
1.5m tall fully extended

I guess I am looking at Carbon Fibre.

Any suggestions?

Guess not then?

Shame about the minimum weight requirement, otherwise the Manfrotto 785 would suit your needs. It collapses down to only 420mm too!

I' use a Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fibre Tripod - excellent light bit of kit.

Budget mate? Money no object, I'd be looking at Gitzo, but if there's a finite sum you had in mind that changes things.

If you want light then you have to pay.

Gitzo GT1541T Traveller Tripod £377
Gitzo G1377M Centre Ball £151

I guess a tripod that satisfies all your conditions will be inevitably expensive ;)

I guess I could run to $700 which is just under 350 quid.

just to add my 2 penny worth, i've got a Slik pro330DX and find it excellent.

does every thing u want m8, but is 1.5 kg

This is the ebay shop i got mine from, £85 is pretty good price in my book,

DoH, just looked at your location, might be an issue....soz

Another vote for the Velbon Ultra Luxi. I take mine on holiday with me and leave the manfrotto at home.

It's even better if you change the head for one of the small manfrotto ball heads.
