No
I stupidly dropped my Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55, just the standard lens that came with my d50. and now it wont zoom and anything taken with it just comes out black. I know its a long shot but i was wondering if it can be fixed rather than buying another one (found brand new ones for £160)

Not to sure if i have posted this in the right section, if it is incorrect then i apologise in advance.

Thanks

Adam

you can get it fixed, if oyu check nikons website they will list approved repairers, my only concern would be the cost involved might not be worth it(£160 repair bill sounds cheap for a lens to me from what i have seen). sounds like the aperture rings are gone and the focus system, and probably a few elements out of alignment. pretty much the whole lens by the sounds of it.

dont take the above idea as gospel, dont have a clue in truth. have you considered looking 2nd hand? kit lenses can be had quite cheap

not sure how much a repair would cost, but for such a low value lens it may be worth your while just picking up a second hand one . sorry you missed it but one of those sold on here yesterday for £50:bonk:

I thought as much to be fair, i have just seen that topic about the other one selling, just my luck, i signed up here a while ago when i first bought my D50, but i'm not really that good at taking photo's so sort of lost interest, then i was thinking what to do and thought i would pop on to see if anyone had an idea, or one for sale.

I had the same lens, the a/f motor had stopped working. I had quotes of £80-£150 to get it repaired.

Just bought one off here 2nd hand for around £50.

well welcome back  and dont give up on your photography it can only get better so dont get disheartened just because a few pics dont turn out right theres always the delete button:lol: and unlike film it dosnt cost anything when you get it wrong hope you find another lens soon

I have 2 lens off a film nikon but am yet to try them to see if they work, at least it gets me back to practising with the camera while i am trying to find a new lens.

Cheers mate, i will ring them and have a chat see what they say, obviously if i can get a second hand one for £50ish then i will be better off doing that, just depends if one comes up soonish or not.
