:bang: ok, a friend has her wp blog hosted on 123-reg [a HUGE mistake she made before consulting me], so after months of rubbish slow page loading, email servers working intermittently, etc etc... we are moving the whole thing over to TSO host. You would think this would be easy.... and intheory should be, but OH no, of course not.

my problem is connecting via ftp to download a couple of vital folders that I will need to overwrite on the new installation.

So, I have followed all the directions they give HERE including trying the hostname and then the IP, neither work. Filezilla is working otherwise as it will happily connect to my own sites. No anti-virus running either. I have the email with the details, I have actually copy and pasted form it to make sure I am not typing something incorrectly.

I have been using ftp for years, but this one has me totally stumped. I tried a quick chromium extention ftp thing, and got the same error message, sooooo.... does anyone, or has anyone, had experience of 123-reg and knows of any issues/quick fixes to persuade the ftp to work?

does it have a "unlock ftp" thingy in the cPanel?

Directions link not functioning!

I get a mix of connection time outs and login incorrect Richard. However, I just set up a new ftp account [long weekend, forgot I could do that] and that works perfectly

Now wondering if the idiot that did her site originally changed the password and hasn't actually thought to say....

Will try a password reset on default account and see if that starts working, but at the moment the folders are downloading, so phew to that, and thanks for reading/asking the questions, appreciated

Hello,

I work here at 123-reg.

I can see from reading the whole thread that you have solved the issue now, however if you experience any further difficulties I would be happy to offer any help I can or you can submit a support ticket here:
