Can Lencarta trigger fire Canon speedlite?

Yes
It would seem I can mix speedlites with mains powered gear, looking at least at historical threads around the subject but cant find an answer to my specific question.

If I used a lencarta elitepro head with it's associated lencarta camera radio trigger, can I use that lencarta radio trigger to fire a Canon 430EX or a 580EXII using a radio receiver of some kind on the hotshoe? Other threads have said it can work using an optical slave, but found optical triggers unreliable previously and dont want to revert. For reference I use RF602's.

Cheers,

Marcus

I think you could be looking at this the wrong way round.

You don't want the lencarta to trigger the Canon speedlites, you want your camera to trigger ALL the lights, Now this should be easy with any of the cheap wireless trigger like the ones from Yonungo or Cactus

Lencarta receivers currently don't have hotshoes on them, so I recommend using RF-602s if you want to add speedlites into the system. Slot the 430EX into the receiver hotshoe, and set the Lencarta heads to slave. Off you go.

Or even better, plug more receivers into the Lencarta heads, one each, so you don't rely on optical triggers.

Lencarta triggers will not work with RF-602s, because they run on different frequencies. General rule of thumb is the transmitter needs to be in the same make as the receiver(s).

Thank you very much for your responses. I think your saying use the rf602 sender on the camera and for the mains lighting connect the rf602 receiver to the head unit using the 3 pin connector with the correct lead?

Not sure what you're saying now Marcus ;)

Your question was will the Lencarta trigger fire a 430EX? Answer no.

But if you want to use the 430EX with the Lencarta heads, and you already have an RF-602 trigger set, then transmitter on camera, receiver on 430EX, and if you set the Lencartas to optical slave they will fire off the 430EX.

No problem at all indoors. That's what Harry's suggesting. Don't use the Lencarta trigger at all in that configuration.

I considered this meant to connect the receiver rf602's via a hard connection to each head?

Yup, exactly.

LOL, we're probably just confusing eachother now. I'm sure you've got the gist of it :)
