HI

Im currently using my imac for customer viewing. But am wanting to put a large tv on the wall. Can I use this in conjunction with my iMac. So that the same thing is showing on the tv on the wall as the iMac. If so what do I need to do it and how.

This imac is all new to me struggling to get my head around it :bang::bang:

Have a look at an Apple TV box, if you have iTunes on your mac its easy to send your pictures to an Apple TV and hence your big screen.

Look for a generation 3 they are going for pocket money on evil bay.

Which iMac do you have?

The answer will vary from "ridiculously easy" to "no, Apple don't want you to do that". If it's the latter then you may as well give up. But I bet it's the former. (I've done this with a MacPro from before the version that Apple want you to use. It was hard but not impossible.)

Apple TV is a nice product. But it costs £99 and adds a layer of complexity. It's likely a 5 quid cable will work.

Do you have an HDMI port on your mac - could you not plug a HDMI cable in to your iMac and the TV ? Then alter the settings for dial screen ?

Just a thought ...

I have the 27 inch iMac.

I have no idea about cables and stuff. My husband is better with stuff like that. He's asked me to try and find out if it can be done.

If anyone can explain exactly how to do it that would be fab and then he can sort if for me.

I can use the computer thats about as far as I go.

Click the Apple in the top left of the screen, select "about this Mac", click "more info...." and tell me what it says after the words 27 inch.

It should be something like "Late 2012".

@Andyred - HDMI socket on an iMac? You think Apple follow everybody else's standards.....? :)

Mini Display port to HDMI, will work with any new mac 2010 onwards

Brilliant thankyou. I'd rather go for the £2.99 one!

Thanks for your help very grateful.
