Yes
threads that have a title like this one.

Don't people realise just how bleeding annoying it is to see a thread on a forum which has a completely useless heading. After all, I could be a on motoring forum and the real question is whether I have experience in using 78rpm gramophones.
Can't they learn (sorry, already cut the swearing) that it's a whole lot more polite to put something USEFUL and MEANINGFUL in the heading.

Agreed....it's the same with people who don't put their location down so nobody knows where they are. ;)

When I'm time-constrained unless the title is informative and interesting I'll just float right past it. This one sucked me in because hovering the mouse over it revealed the content therein without having to open the post. And yes, it does niggle me sometimes.

We have a for sale forum on my work intranet (internal internet) and it makes people scream when idiots just put "For Sale" or "Car For Sale" as a heading.

It's a pet hate of mine, most of the time the thread titles are deliberately random because the thread starter knows they're struggling to create an interesting thread and try to dupe people to view the thread.

I think if there were less random thread titles we'd have less unanswered threads.

I really can't see the issue, sometimes people can't think of a title so start with the beginning of what they want to say.

If we all posted titles in the same way it would make it quite hard to tell the difference between them.

Variety is the spice of life as they say :D

Although, double posting instead of just editing the original can be annoying, just a way to bump the post count I think :p lol

I don't think the OP wants people to post thread titles the same as everyone else. It's more a question of making the thread titles representative of the content of the thread. You can't see the advantage of doing that?

Yeah, but having 20 "What lens for £200" threads are hardly going to be any any better are they? Or how about 50 "Spec me a beginner SLR!" threads.

On one forum I frequent there are many grammar nazis who seem hell bent on try to correct everyone's posts.

At the end of the day, everyone is different, we all have different levels of communications skills and I think everyone just needs to learn to be a little more tolerant of others.

Granted, threads you have to go into before you know what they are about are annoying, but we have the ability here of hovering over a thread title to see what's inside so it isn't really a big deal!

I don't think it's got anything to do with communication skills, unless someone does actually have problems communicating in any other kind of social situation.

It's not a big thing, but it is a minor annoyance. I have to say that I skip right past those kinds of threads. If a thread title looks interesting to me then I'll click on it, but of course that is a personal thing.

It's so hot in Kent I'm sitting in boxers, and nothing else.

i find it more annoying the people who say what do people think of this lens, then post a link without a mention of what the lens is. i hover over most threads before clicking, so i dont find the title that annoying but would prefer a decent title with a mention of what they are asking/talking about

Yes. Very annoying.

If you have any gramophone related queries though, I may be able to help!

Steve.
