I have a canon 60d and want to know if it can wireless trigger two slaves like the 430ex? or do i need one of the flash units to be a master like the next model up...reason i ask is i understand 60d has wireless controller built in. anyone tried this?

My 7d controls my 430 without a problem....The 60D should as well (I think it has less groups available v the 7D but is similar functionality)

Not tried it as I don't own a 60D yet, but the manual (p. 143 onwards) says that you can control multiple Speedlights in one or two groups.

The wireless flash control is one-way.. from camera (or commander flash) to slaves. The camera doesn't know how many flashes there are in each group, and the flashes themselves don't know either. They just emit a pre-flash, the camera meters through the lens and then sends out an adjusted flash command with the appropriate power setting in the command.

Short version: You can have as many flashes as you want as slaves and as stated, split them into 2 groups if you want. The reason to split them into groups is if you want to set the power ratio.
