can apple patent this?

Well, Apple's way is: Steal someone else's idea, patent it, sue others for using it. And because they pay billions to lawyers, they somehow manage to get away with it.
 
:shrug: i know lots of cameras advertise having 'face detection' but is it for focus only, or as in this case, exposure too? It does sound a bit bizarre that Apple can patent something that already appears on other devices [assuming they do exposure as well as focus] :thinking:

To be fair they're all as bad as each other, look at the apple vs Samsung battle in the news..

Well, they patented slide to unlock and tried to sue, yet it's been around for ages:
