Hi Guys, Could anyone suggest a good continuous light for studio I am setting up now. I have two flashes already and stands for them but I will need a continuous light won't I. ? Would you use your continuous light to light up your paper or your flashgun? I don't want to waste money on something I maybe don't need at the moment or buy a cheap one and then have to get another one down the line. I would really appreciate someones experience with this please and thank you in advance.

Well, most studio flashes have modelling lights, I take it its for photography and not video ? Tell us s bit more want you intend to photograph ?

Yes for photography, Portraits and especially young babies..

You need flash. No affordable continuous lights are bright enough.

Quite a few threads on starter outfits for home portraits if you scroll down this forum.

Ok thank you Richard, so would you suggest I buy another flash instead?

Depends what you want to do and how you want to go about it - various options.

If there is mains power, then studio heads are the way to go. They're not expensive, eg Lencarta Smartflash-2 for £110. If you're new to studio photography then it's good idea to start with one light, plus reflector board. You can do a great deal with that, then add extra units when you know what you need and how to use it.

If it's the pure white background look you're after, then you'll need two lights on the background, just for that.

Thanks again Richard, sounds like a plan..this studio lark is quite daunting...got some ideas so hope it pans out. Thanks again :)
