Can anyone recommend a good flash book?

For using your flash or general lighting? Best place to start would be strobist.com, second place to start would be Joe McNally's Hot Shoe Diaries, although that's more narrative than instructional.

Thanks Welly. I was meaning more for general flash photography techniques. Obviously i would like to know how to use the flash but i would imagine there will be instructions with it.

There is one called the Speedlight Field Guide. I just picked one up on Amazon last week. It tells you everything that's not in the manual. :)

Goes through all the functions but actually tells you how to use them in real life. Sections on setting up studio lighting with them, wireless triggering, portrait lighting, action shots.........

For the money it's a cracking addition. Will be reading more of it later. :)

Strobist is good but more about theory than actual settings etc I feel. McNally's book is good but again, it's more anectodatal teaching than an outright tuition book.

I still believe some of the best book about flashes are the manuals - Canon's are particularly good and will pretty much tell how you to do anything with a Canon.
