My Dad has found some old negatives from his army service. He took them to a few high street digital places and they couldnt help. He also tried some specialist locally.

He thinks they are 127 film (means nothing to me???) they are from the late 50's and are approx 60 x 40 mm if that helps. There are only half a dozen of them and he's looking at either 6x4 prints or digital files.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated PM me with costs/prices.

Thanks

Anywhere which scans film will be able to to scan them but someone on here may be able to do it cheap for you...

was going to say the same, but beaten to it.

60x40 is medium format size, non of the high street processors can scan or print it, they only do 35mm.
I have heard that snappysnaps can do it, but I dunno..

Thanks MC_Stoo, PM me your address and i'll get the negs from my dads and send them. I'll prob send them recorded deilivery because of the sentimental value to Dad.

Its a very kind offer and i ppreciate it hughley.

Thanks for the generous offers of help from TP members, this has now been resolved by a friend of a friend of my Dads who has the kit and knowledge to print the negs. They may even be a member on here so if you do happen to find yourself printing some images of Centurian tanks please make yourself know to me.

Cheers

Dave

Just to confirm, snappy snaps can indeed do medium format if anyone ever needs high street availability. My local one in Kentish Town did a roll of film for me and scanned the negs on. I *think* they can do MF mono developing/scanning on site but dev for colour is sent to their labs.

Yeah, ought to find out exactly what it is they do, the Leeds branch has a sign with some 120 speak, they are the only high street processor to even vaguely suggest they do 120 of any kind.
The fact they say they send colour out suggests they do in fact do proper B/W and not C41 B/W.
Not even my E6 lab does room temp B/W...
:)

notts dave, I'd send them special delivery. recorded is just so you can prove the recipient received it, which is still a good idea, but its still just as likely to get lost along the way as regular post they dont track it as it goes they just get a signature at the end.

The shop I work in can do all sorts of old negatives, we've got a manual film scanner for the printing machine which has various masks up to 120 6x9 (not sure of the exact size of that format, but it's more than big enough for 60x40mm negs!)

Seems like you've found someone to sort it out for you! I hope it goes well, we get a lot of elderly customers with old negatives who are so pleased when we present them with a few prints :)
