I really like landscape photography, the reason being that I'm a beginner and I can just sit there on my own and faff about with my camerain manual in a trial and error sort of way.

About 7 years ago, I took one nice photo of my family and it wa just a complete fluke really. I'm now visiting said family and they've asked if I can take a few photos of them while we're out at Brigham Rocks. I really don't want to but I've told them that I will on the basis that they need to keep their expectations low. I don't have any lighting other than my pop up flash so will have to just make do with what I've got.

Does anyone have any advice in terms of poses, focus length etc? There are two adults and an older child.

Any advice would perhaps take the edge off my nerves.

You can't go wrong taking some candid portraits, us a slightly longer focal length. Often you get more natural pictures when the subject is not aware of when a photo is getting taken or not.

Are you trying to replicate the image you took that time?
If so, try and add some humour to it, that way it will deviate from the original and not be a 'direct comparison'.

Else, try your best and see what happens - the above suggestion of a longer focal length could work in your favour!

No - not trying to replicate the image- the last one was indoors and this will be outdoors (thank goodness, their house is quite dark)...there's a dog to contend with too....:(

Thanks - I think I'll end up taking loads and hoping one of them hits the mark.
