Can anybody recommend a USB Fast CF Card Reader please, my card reader is quite slow but my usb is 3.0 if i remember rightly as it is a recent tower build and card reader seems to be taking a couple of hours top empty my 16gb sandisk extreme cf cards which is annoying! anyway if anybody can give solid advice please do so!

What he said, excellent product, good price from Amazon too.

i also use a Lexar reader. i bought the multi card reader as the clear & white colour scheme matched my Apple products & its good to have the ability to use any card thats ever likely to come your way

if i was to buy another one i would just get the slightly smaller one as in reality i only ever use CF & very occasionally an SD card & my bags already heavy enough...
the multi card reader isn't exactly massive though & it just sits there on the desk looking pretty most of the time anyway so its not an issue :)

When a USB 3.0 card reader is slow, it is not necessarily the card reader's fault.

After I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, my USB 3.0 card reader suddenly got really slow. After some experimentation, I found out that it was actually the Windows antivirus software (Windows Defender) which caused the slowness.

As a consequence, I exempted the USB 3.0 drives, all NEF and JPG files, my image directory, and also Lightroom and the catalog directory from Defender's activities, and now the card reader is back up to its previous speed.

I probably exempted more than I had to, but it worked.

Thanks, my cf reader is ancient so it is worth upgrading but jf it persists to run slowly i will look into trying the above!
