Yes
I've been looking for info on this but there is not much info yet. I know they both use 2.4gHz but do they speak the same language. I know the YN602/3's work but will the YN622 work in manual mode.

So will I be able to fire an off camera 560III from the 622 mounted on my camera. Or will I need a 622 mounted to the 560III too. I know all the flashes work with a pair of 622's but can you fire a 560III with a single 622, that is my question.

The link, I provided above, states "Compatible with ALL YongNuo", but when I checked out Flash Havoc, he says otherwise! :bang:

So Kris is indeed right! For some strange reasons they are not (directly) compatible...
Have a closer look here for a possible "work-around" http://flashhavoc.com/yongnuo-yn-560-iii-review/ - scroll down to the YN-622 compatible listing.

Sorry for the sloppy, misleading answer...

So I could just stick a 602 or 603 on top of the 622 and all would be fine. Or wait for the 622TX.

Thanks Jan K. and Kris.

The 560III have receivers for the 602/603 built into them. They are only dumb receivers - will only trigger the flash, not control any other feature.

The benefit of this is that you don't need extra triggers underneath them - no loose connections, batteries etc etc. Two or three years ago, this system would have been dogs b*****x.

An on camera 622 will not trigger the in-built receiver in a 560III. You will need a 622 attached underneath for them to fire from the on camera 622.

You could stick a 602/603 on top of the camera mounted 622, and then they will fire. I have done this with my 622 and 602 to fire remote guns, because I have a lot more 602s than 622s. However, if starting out now, I wouldn't bother with anything but a 622 and purchase flashes that are compatible with them - namely mkII Canon guns or 568 YNs et al.

Kris the more I look into the more I'm thinking the 622's and compatible flashes are the way to go, simple for the small extra outlay you get so much more back. I also want to do super sync with my 622/565 combination so that is the main pull for me.

We've been waiting years for this type of system. I was dumb remote triggering ten years ago.

Now we have it, don't waste it.
