Can a PC Sync cable provide TTL capability?

Hi all,

I'm struggling with this one; I would like a short, ~12", sync cable to connect a 5Diii to a YN568EXII. So, the cable needs a threaded PC connector on the camera end, and 2.5mm jack plug for the flash. So far so good, I've come up with this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxsimafoto®-2-5mm-Flash-coiled-length/dp/B00383JYGC/ and several more like it.

However, I'd like to retain E-TTL and, less importantly, HSS. Is it possible with this cable? Is it possible with any cable? Do I have to resort to one of those ugly cables that connects to the hot-shoe of the camera and foot of the flash?

I normally do it wirelessly with a couple of YN-622C devices, but that's a bit cumbersome for a quick shot with camera and flash in each hand.

All help gratefully received!
Cheers,
Mike.

As Steve says, a PC sync lead won't do the job - the only ways to get full TTL control over your remote flash are wirelessly, via the "ugly" cable (e.g. OC-E3) or by using a second flash (or speedlight controller) on the top of the 5D3 (which is really no less cumbersome than the pair of YN-622Cs you've been using).

Thank you, both.

I'll add an ugly OC-E3 cable to my birthday list, and keep using the YN-622Cs for the time being.

Mike.

The 622's are far less cumbersome than the OC-E3 in practice. Of course you can hold one in each hand, but whillst they're connected you can't just put the flash down whilst you do something else with the camera round your neck, you can't just pass it to a mate to hold somewhere else, or even stick it in a pocket. whilst the're physically connected, it's a 2 hand job to carry them. Otherwise known as a PITA

In that case I think you've probably saved me from finding this out for myself. Thank you.
Just how big are your pockets, though!

I've been known to stick a flashgun in a suit jacket pocket or even a jeans back pocket temporarily.
